m I Called to become a Brother?

Many are called, but few are chosen. The Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity is a community with family and mission. Serving in Ecclesial Family Teams. The formation program for a man who is called to become a brother is:

Come and See and Candidacy Program

The man will spend time with a professed brother and/or a priest in one of the SOLT missions or formation houses at either The Mount Carmel Mission, Belize, Central America or at St Anne’s, Belcourt, North Dakota. This is a time of discernment if the man is called to become a member of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity, or if he is called to become a member of another community.

Novitiate Year

This is a year of spiritual formation. Within the American Region, the man who is accepted for the Novitiate will enter at the community Assembly in July and leave for the Novitiate House. At the end of the year, the brother makes Promises of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience. The promises of the three Counsels are for one year, and the brother will continue to renew for up to five more years.

Intellectual Year

Brothers will be asked to "Have among yourselves the same mind that is also yours in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 2:5 NAB) and develop their intellect in giving glory to God and in the charity and savor to men and women of our time. To this end, they may study at different institutions approved by the SOLT community for their academic excellence, and most importantly, their faithfulness to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.

Pastoral Year

Finally, the man will undertake a pastoral year. Six months of his Pastoral Year will be serving in a mission, depending upon the gifts of the brother. If he is gifted in languages he will be assigned to a foreign mission; if he is gifted in other areas, he will be assigned into a mission with facilities to develop his skills as a Permanent Brother. The final six months of his Pastoral Year will be spent in Ecclesial Family Team Formation in Robstown, Texas. Here the brother will learn to serve and live in an Ecclesial Family Team, serving with all other vocations.
