Lay Faithful
“Abide in me and I in you” (John 15:4 DR),
“…that you [may] bear much fruit” (John 15:8 NAB).
hese words of Jesus from Sacred Scripture reveal the mystery of Communion that serves as the unifying bond between the Lord and his Lay Faithful so that
they no longer belong to themselves, but are the Lord’s very own. The Lay Faithful united with the Trinity become disciples of Jesus and Mary who are sent as
Lay Apostles into the world to leaven and sanctify the temporal order in all of their work, families and society itself. The Lay Faithful of The Society of Our Lady of
the Most Holy Trinity are a Public Clerical Association of the Faithful who serve in the world to leaven the temporal order in the missionary mandate that is given
by the Holy Spirit himself. The Communion of the Lay Apostles with Jesus as source and model is the Communion of God as Trinity; that is the unity of the Son
to the Father in the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the Lay Faithful to achieve this Communion they are united to the Son in the Holy Spirit’s bond of love and thereby
they are united to the Father.
“I am the vine [and] you are the branches” (John 15:5 NAB).
From this Communion that the Lay Faithful experience in Christ there immediately flows the Communion that they experience with one another for all
are branches of the one, single vine, Jesus Christ.
Marriage and Family
God is love and in himself he lives a mystery of personal, loving Communion.
The Covenant of Conjugal love freely and continuously chosen whereby man and woman accept the intimate community of life and loved willed by God himself,
is gifted in God in order that they may live completely faithful to the plan of God in every way Christian marriage is a sacrament in which human persons are
introduced into the great family of the Church. The family is called by God to be a Communion of persons in his image (John Paul II, Apostolic Exhortation
Familiaris Consortio, The Role of the Christian Family in the Modern World, November 22, 1981, no. 21. CCC #2205). The family as a Domestic Church is the
way of God in which each human person is introduced into the human family and into the family of God. The commandment to grow and multiply is given to man
and woman as the way of God that teaches the whole Truth, who is God himself through a sharing in his creative power.
Lay Faithful in the Lay Apostolate
Lay Faithful who are single are also called to share with Jesus Christ in His Mission in Living the Gospel in a heroic way and are called to come to
Communion with the Most Holy Trinity. This Communion gives rise to mission and mission is accomplished in Communion. In the work of leavening the temporal
order, the Lay Faithful bear fruit from Communion with Jesus Christ, in the gift of Christ and his Spirit to others. The Lay Faithful are a witness of the Lay
Apostolate of the Church in Apostolic Works. The Society of Our Lady desires to send forth the Lay Faithful as Lay Apostles serving on Ecclesial Teams,
engaged in the Lay Apostolate of Apostolic Works.
The Society of Our Lady of The Most Holy Trinity is actively discerning these callings and vocations of the Lay Faithful and is interested in the
sanctification of the temporal order through them. If you believe that you are called in your vocation of marriage and family or as a single lay person to serve in the
Lay Apostolate in the Church, then Our Lady’s Society would be privileged to serve you in the discernment of your calling and vocation in this sharing of
the life and mission of the Church.
