New Guinea Highlands. Our Lady’s Society in the year 1993 sent the first Ecclesial Team to the Archdiocese of Mt. Hagen in the highlands of New Guinea. The apostolic work of Our Lady’s Mission here is involved and fruitful. This work includes shepherding the People of God in their parishes, teaching catechesis, giving retreats and seminars on issues of peace and justice, teaching in elementary schools and enriching family life. Especially exciting is the work in formation and training of the indigenous peoples to serve on Ecclesial Teams themselves. The Society of Our Lady sees in this apostolic activity the inculturation of the Gospels and rejoices over the spreading of the good news to those people most marginalized and in need.
