Jesus’ Relationship with the Missionaries of Mercy

e read of the prophesies of Isaiah (53: 2-3), and we see in the Scriptures how God perfectly fulfilled these prophesies in the coming of Jesus. As we ponder
Jesus who is The Suffering Servant, we then relate these Scripture passages to the lives of those who are greatly suffering today and are willing to offer
their lives in union with Jesus to the Father in intercession for the seminarian and priest members of Our Lady’s Society.
There is only one priesthood and only one High Priest, Jesus Christ. All priests must be united with Jesus in His priesthood to know their identity as priests;
to know who they are as priests. Jesus himself was both priest and victim. Priests need to have those persons who are willing to unite themselves with the
sufferings of Christ in order that the priest may have the fruitfulness of the sufferings of Jesus as Suffering Servant. Jesus unites each priest in oneness
with Himself as Eternal High Priest and with His own priesthood.
Priests today have found great difficulty in fulfilling the work of this oneness with Jesus in His Priesthood and they have great need for “filling up what is wanting
in the sufferings of Christ” (Cf. Colossians 1:24 NAB). To be a member of the Missionaries of Mercy brings each person to serve as Jesus served; in their union with Christ in the
“priesthood of their Baptism”. This service in their offering up of their sufferings for a seminarian and priest member of Our Lady’s Society helps the person who
is called to become a Missionary of Mercy, to realize in a more profound manner the priesthood that they share with the whole Body of Christ from their
baptism.
